Amos Masondo

Former Executive Mayor of Johannesburg


Born 21-04-1953

Amos Masondo is the former Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg. He is known as a former Robben Islander, Soweto civic activist and unionist. Masondo served as the Secretary of the Witwatersrand region of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) from 1990 to 1993 and African National Congress regional election co-ordinator for the PWV from 1993 to 1994.
