Prof Anton du Toit is a CA(SA) and member of the Institute of Directors and part time at Monash South Africa (campus of Monash University, Australia), where he was Director of Accountancy Studies. He is the course co-ordinator for the Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Governance.

Anton is a councillor of the VUT (Vaal University of Technology) and chairman of its Audit and Risk Committee. He has been a Professor in Accounting at the University of Johannesburg and at the North-West University for 19 years. He is a computer auditor with a big interest in business ethics, corporate governance, King III, IT governance and sustainability.

He is disabled (wheelchair) and is on early retirement. He still consults widely to the audit profession, boards of companies and universities. Furthermore, he is a judge for the annual Nkonki Integrated Reporting Award. He serves as member of the audit and risk committee of ICASA and Spectramed Medical Aid Fund, as well as in the public sector for the Capricorn District Municipality, the Tlokwe City Council, the Agenang Municipality and TUT. He is currently on the board of directors of three companies, one in an executive position and the other as an independent non-executive (including chairman and chairman of the audit committee). He serves on some committees and interest groups in the profession. He was member of the Audit Committee of Gauteng Provincial Government.

Anton has both external auditing experience (having had his own small practice as well) as well as computer auditing experience. He has presented papers at numerous seminars and conferences on auditing concepts both internationally and locally. He is also a referee for numerous articles in accredited journals.

Anton has been involved in audit and advisory services for many personal clients and for some big audit firms. The clients include Workforce, UCS TS, Honda SA, Atlas Finance, International SOS, Basil Read, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality and Rand Mutual Assurance. Previous clients include Afrox, BP, the JSE, Sappi, Mondi, South-West Coop, AGN of ABSA and Sanlam.
