Ann Marie Thomson - Founder Giving Back to Africa

"Upon meeting Arthur in person, I became further convinced of his potential for leadership. He brought a natural professionalism to our conversations that impressed me for someone so young. As we discussed GBA and how to work with him, Arthur’s exuberance and positive energy began to infuse GBA with a youthful energy that was both refreshing and challenging; challenging because his faith in the overall mission of GBA and its relevance for the development of future leaders in Congo reminded us again of what this organization is all about. For me personally, Arthur confirmed once again the value of investing in Congolese young people; I saw in Arthur, not only an example of the qualities a GBA Scholar might develop but also his potential to inspire other Congolese young people to consider giving back to their communities. Arthur’s careful, respectful, and committed approach to working with our organization demonstrates his potential to be a knowledgeable, reflective professional. He has a natural ability to communicate and to give feedback that is both critical and constructive (not an easy quality to develop), one of the rare yet absolutely essential qualities of an effective leader.
