Asanda Ngoasheng (nee’ Saule) is an award-winning journalist and business woman. In her ten years in the media and communications industry she has been recognised in numerous ways. In 2004, she was awarded the Konrad Adeneur Stiftung Scholarship, followed by the Clive Mennel Media Fellowship (2007), where she spent a month at Duke University, North Carolina in the US. In 2011, she was part of a campaign that won a Bronze Award at the PRISA PRISM Awards. In 2014,she was nominated as a finalist in the Entrepreneurship category of the Rising Star Awards (2014).
Ngoasheng has worked as a writer, producer and reporter for broadcasters like the SABC and CNBC Africa. She has also produced for Norwegian broadcaster NRK as a freelancer. She has also worked as a sessional lecturer and broadcasting trainer at Wits Radio Academy and Department of Journalism at Wits University.
She established Fiction Imitates Reality (FIR), a media and marketing agency that also provides television and radio production services in 2009. She has lead and executed various public relations and media projects in the agriculture, mining, health and local government sectors.
A keen academic and lifelong scholar, she holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours (International Relations) and Bachelor of Arts (Journalism and Politics), both from Rhodes University, as well as a Grow Your Own Business Certificate from Wits Business School and Duke University. She is currently completing a Masters in International Relations at the University of Witwatersrand.
Ngoasheng has had articles published in various publications, including South African Foreign Policy Monitor, Business Day, Daily Dispatch, Sunday Times and Move magazine.
