Achievements

Other Achievements

Regional Chairperson COSATU | 1991

This position gave me more exposure to many companies where the ANC could further the mobilisation of workers as we were building towards the new South Africa. Although my harassment started far earlier in the 80s it is when Nelson Mandela was released that I was unfortunately getting arrested several times for staying in an area regarded as not an ANC area in Esikhawini by the then KwaZulu Natal Police.

Shop Steward at ALUSAF | 1987

Being elected into this position, saw me recruiting many workers to join the ANC in underground work and some we recruited to join UMkhonto Wesizwe. The company saw this as a treat and decided to give me a promotion so as to take me away from these activities. I was seconded to do apprenticeship but did not abandon my work because when I finished and qualified as a Fitter and Turner , I instead was promoted to COSATU as Regional Chairperson in the North Coast.

SEIFSA Awarded Training in America in Negotiations | 1989

Having been elected as a Chief Negotiator for NUMSA, and also being a Fulltime Shop Steward at the then ALUSAF, I was recommended by SEIFSA the management to attend a course in America.
