Brenda Fassie is a South African music legend, well known as the Queen of African Pop. She broke into the musical scene in the early eighties with "Weekend Special". In 2001 Time Magazine referred to her as "The Madonna of the Townships". In 2004 she was voted 17th among the Top 100 Great South Africans. Fassie died at age 39 on 9 May 2004.
