Brendon Naicker

Nickname: 'Brenduna'

Theologian, Entrepreneur, Author, Activist

Currently resides in: Gauteng, South Africa

Born in Durban South Africa

My soul was raised in the glorious land of South Africa. It is where I was shaped, by the quiet echoes of my forefathers, a layer of people before me who have trodden tentatively. I have walked where generations of brave and tormented souls have suffered, and shed blood into its russet earth. I have seen flocks of birds flee into the skies, crying in horror at these unnecessary spilling’s. My country is culture rich and fertile and has felt my bare feet caressed by its soil and sand. I am sculptured from its cultures and traditions, taught by its education systems moulded by its harsh segregations. Its scent lingers on my skin, I have watched its flowers bloom under a gentle sun and eaten the fruits from its plentiful vegetation. South Africa has fed me and watered me and it courses through my veins. It is a part of my very being.

Current Position(s)

Project Director | brendonnaicker.org
Houghton Estate, South Africa | January 2016 - present

Social Development and Community Services

Our societies are plagued by numerous problems, most importantly unemployment, indebtedness, dwindling income and resources and deteriorating environmental conditions.
This has brought about the impairment of the vision for, and loss of faith in, a better society. Contrary to making vague promises about everything in contradictory ways, we posit that aligning our economic and political systems with ecological needs is the structural catalyst for the improvement of our societies.

What we stand for
EDUCATION
We need to break beyond dividing lines and poor education standards. What we need is universal access to improved and fair education services.
ECONOMY
We need to create more sustainable employment places, boost growth and build a dynamic and resilient economy.
EMPOWERMENT
We need to enable people to run decent and aspiring livelihoods.

Founding Director | Sower Estates
Cardiff, United Kingdom | 2010 - present

Property and Real Estate

The company I started in 2010 had attracted investments in 2013, two Chinese investors have bought shares in Sower Estates for a healthy sum. With new investments our rate of growth and expansion had accelerated unbelievably. In addition, these Chinese investors have introduced a new client base to the company with solid financial backing however many have not even been to the UK previously. With extended business streams, we have to think of creative ideas to do business.

In a short space of months, competitors in the South Wales area have taken us as a major player, one national chain has offered to acquire our company back in December 2013! Rightmove ranked us 1st out of 83 agents in April 2014. 90percent of new business come from referrals, our clients ranges from residential home owners to London based corporations owning 100 million GBP plus assets throughout UK, who have entrusted us as their sole agent to let and manage their 4 acres of industrial estate in Cardiff for them. In a short space of six weeks we managed to raise occupancy rates of commercial lets from 50percent to 100percent. Our clients appreciate the customer care we provide and the expertise we have. Currently our company has these service lines: residential sales and lettings, commercial sales and lettings, property management and maintenance.

Director | Cardiff City Church
Cardiff, United Kingdom | 2009 - 2012

Social Development and Community Services

After finishing my second master’s degree, while still at the time living in London I was offered a job opportunity to come to Wales to help manage and oversee a church in Cardiff. Upon arriving, it became apparent that I needed to find creative ways in order to sustain its outgoings. I started opening up several charity shops in Cardiff and created employment opportunities. We managed to generate profit from day one - I found retail units in areas which had been left empty for a while, and negotiated with the Landlords for leases on step rent basis and terms which favour the charity and also benefited the Landlords and looked after their properties. The charity shops were running successfully until I found out that the workers started stealing, it was then I decided to launch Sower Estates as become a full time property professional. When the charity shops were closing, I renegotiated with the Landlords for an acceptable exit strategy for both parties and found replacement tenants.
