Dipak is Chairperson and CEO of Bamba Zonke, a trading and investment company operating in financial markets and in private equity investments for social and economic impact. He is an investor in African Development initiatives. His particular interests are in the fields of deepening Africa's capital and financial markets and he invests in development projects in education, agriculture, alternative energy and water.

Previously he was Global Sector Head: International Development Group, at Standard Bank Group, and was globally responsible for the bank's strategic partnerships with organisations involved in the aid and development processes for Africa. He has held a number of senior executive positions with the bank over many years, including being on the Group Executive Committee and on the Corporate and Investment Banking Global Exco.

He was a political activist involved in military and political underground work during the struggle against Apartheid in South Africa. Being an officer of Mkontho we Sizwe, he was detained and charged for his role in Operation Vula, 1990, and was granted indemnity in 1991. Upon his release from prison, he joined the ANC negotiating team at Codesa, which was the body negotiating the peaceful and democratic settlement to South Africa's apartheid past. Thereafter he served as Director General of the National Department of Transport in the first term of democratic government in South Africa.
