Chief Executive Officer (Designate)

Life Insurance Industry

Gauteng.

Competitive TCTC circa R3.5m pa (negotiable) + LTI & STI.

 

A very established life insurance company, with a well-known brand name and with an illustrious history of perpetual commercial success in its market, wishes to appoint a CEO designate to succeed its current CEO who will be retiring within the next number of months.

A competitive initial TCTC of around R3.5 million per annum (negotiable) plus participation in a long-term incentive scheme plus a short-term incentive scheme is on offer. A guaranteed annual bonus for the 1st and 2nd year of service (up to circa 70% of annual cost to company) will be negotiated with the preferred candidate.

The position will be ideal for a consummate leader with solid senior and top management experience specifically in the life insurance industry, whether direct or indirect experience. It is likely that the preferred candidate will be a fully qualified actuary or a fully qualified chartered accountant (CA (SA)).

The position will be based in Gauteng.

Only South African citizens will be considered for the position.

Key Performance Areas

Upon assuming the CEO role, the key performance areas are likely to include:

  • Managing the successful execution of company strategy as mandated by the board.
  • Providing strategic and executive leadership to the entire group.
    • Taking full P&L responsibility for the entire group.
  • Together with the group executive and the board, constantly reviewing and optimising the group business strategy.
  • Ensuring that the group remains on a sustainable growth trajectory within its stated strategic intent.
  • Ensuring overall governance and compliance of the group relative to prevailing legislation.
