Mozambican Politician and Humanitarian


Born 17-10-1945 in Incadine Mozambique

Graça Machel is a President of the Foundation of Community Development and the UNESCO National Commission in Mozambique. She is the third wife of former South African president Nelson Mandela. Machel is the widow of Samora Machel, the first President of independent Mozambique. She is a former Education and Culture Minister of Mozambique. In 1995 she received the Nansen Medal from the UN in recognition of her longstanding humanitarian work, particularly on behalf of refugee children.
