Hans Merensky

Consulting Geologist


Born 16-03-1871 in Botshabelo South Africa

Deceased 21-10-1952 (81 years old) in Westfalia

Whilst doing some geological surveys, he discovered tin near Pretoria and reported it to the Premier Diamond Mine regarding possible mining prospects. In 1924 he was tipped off about some platinum deposits near Lydenburg. Here he discovered a 48 km reef that was named after him. In his later years on his farm, Westfalia, he contributed much to South Africa.
