Hersheela Narsee

Director of Research Coordination and Evaluation


Born 23-03-1956

Hersheela Narsee is the Director of the Research Coordination, Monitoring and Evaluation of the Department of Basic Education. She is also a Founding Member of the Natal Organization of Women (NOW). Whilst a student, she became politically active and was eventually detained in 1979 for violating the Group Areas Act. She also had run-ins with the apartheid government for being in possession of banned literature and for putting up posters in Durban.
