Jeremy Cronin

South African Deputy Minister of Public Works


Born 12-09-1949

Jeremy Cronin is the Deputy Minister of Public Works. He was a Member of Parliament and is the Deputy General-Secretary of the SA Communist Party. Cronin was politically imprisoned for seven years, from 1976 to 1983, at Pretoria Maximum Security Prison, and his first poem collection, Inside (1983), reflects his experiences there. Other poetry collections include Even the Dead (1997) and Inside and Out (1999).
