Luthando Dennis Matthews

Management & Leadership Development Consultant


Born 22-10-1956 in Grahamstown South Africa

Former Ford International Scholarship winner and Western Michigan University MBA graduate. Thirty years experience as corporate training practitioner; group facilitator; consultant; programme developer and HRD project manager. Luthando Has worked in the training departments of Ford Motor Company and the SA Motor Corporation; as Director, Consultant and Project Manager at Clive Acton Associates in Johannesburg.

He founded and ran, for twelve years, his own Johannesburg-based management and leadership training consultancy, Professional Development Associates (PDA). PDA were, among other things, the Project Managers of the Joint Management Development Programme (JMDP), which was a joint initiative of the Paris Chamber of Commerce & Industry; NAFCOC; the then Urban Foundation; and the Black Management Forum. Under his leadership the JMDP grew to attract support from more than sixty leading companies operating in the manufacturing; chemical; retail; pharmaceutical; financial; beverages; local government; energy; and mining sectors of the economy.

He's a former Visiting Fellow (1996) at the European School of Management (ESCP) in Oxford, United Kingdom. He was the July winner and 1995 Finalist for the Sanlam/Sowetan Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He has served both on the Executive Board oand the Board of Trustees of the South African Institute of Management. He's a former board member of the Institute for Health Training and Development.

Signed a two- year contract & served as Administrative Secretary to South Africa's Cabinet Minister of Sport (in both the Minister's Pretoria and Cape Town's private offices) in the years leading to the country's hosting of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
