Born 14-06-1921

Deceased 25-05-2005 (83 years old)

On the 5 December 1956 he was arrested for treason in his Pietermaritzburg home. He was then imprisoned with other treason trialists, such as ex-President Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu, Oliver Tambo, Z. K. Matthews and Albert Luthuli. In 1959 the charges against him were dropped. In 1963 he was served with a five year banning order which restricted him to the Pietermaritzburg area.
