Marian Shinn is the Democratic Alliance's Shadow Minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services. She previously served as the Democratic Alliance's Shadow Minister of Science and Technology. She started her Journalism career in 1974 at The Star where she focused on human rights and social welfare issues. She has also worked for the Sunday Tribune, Sunday Times and Sunday Express, before venturing into Information Technology trade journalism. In 1985 she started a public relations consultancy specialising in IT. In 1998, she joined the Cape Town branch of the Democratic Party and frequently served as the branch chairperson, actively driving growth and diversity.
