Mark Shuttleworth

Founder of the Ubuntu Project


Born 18-09-1973 in Free State South Africa

Mark Shuttleworth is the Founder of the Ubuntu project. In April 2002, as a cosmonaut member of the crew of Soyuz mission TM34 to the International Space Station, Mark flew in space. This made him the first African in space. In 1995, whilst still a student at University of Cape Town, Mark founded Thawte Consulting, an Internet consulting business. He is also the founder of the The Shuttleworth Foundation.
