Masehletse Lucy Maboya
I am a vibrant young woman who is always looking for strategies and tactics that have high pay-offs, I am open to new concepts and in fact, aggressively seeking them
I hold a BA in Media Studies and Economic Sociology from the University of the Witwatersrand, motivated by my strong interest in research and economics; I pursued a BA (Hons) in Economic Sociology. This programme did not only focus on the nature of different economies but had a specialised research focus.
My Honours degree was based on, among other things, economic theory, economic restructuring, critical policy analysis, tracing the impact of certain policies on the South African government as well as the relationship between the South African political environment and policy planning.
I am one of two people from the 2010 Honours Programme in the Sociology Department at Wits to do an Honours degree by research and coursework. I was awarded a research bursary by the National Research Foundation Chair (NRF Chair). As requested by the NRF Chair, I am currently working on a journal article for the South African Review of Sociology.
Having gained a range of interpersonal skills, an appreciation for working with people as well as a more refined sense of interpreting data as an intern for a leading global corporate consultancy, I became promoted as an Executive within the first nine months of my stint.
This period has allowed me the opportunity to offer advisory skills to JSE top 40 firms on a range of issues from regulatory to crisis communications.
I am currently enrolled at the University of the Witwatersrand for a Master’s degree in Economic Sociology
