Began career by reciting poetry at union & cultural events; First album, Change Is Pain was banned & follow-up album, Unbroken Spirit was written after being in solitary confinement in prison; Outspoken political activist, known as The People's Poet; His poem, Young People, was engraved on a stone in the Avalon Cemetry as a memorial to the youth on the 20th annivesary of the June 16th Soweto Uprising ; In 1994 performed introduction at inauguration of Pres Nelson Mandela; In 1996 he co-compere with Benjamn Zephaniah the Two Nations Concert, Albert Hall, to honour Mandela on his visit to London;
