Nick is also an active member of the Democratic Alliance.
He has organized national youth events for the party. He has sat on the KZN Youth Provincial Executive Committee, the CDC constituency executive committee and on his local branch committee. He was elected as branch chairperson of his local branch (Branch 27 in Durban) at age 17, he is the youngest person to hold such a position.
In early 2015 Nick ran a protest candidacy against, former leader of the Democratic Alliance, Helen Zille, for a number of reasons. In the weeks following the announcement of his campaign Nicholas withdrew from the race as he believed he had stated a debate about leadership and liberalism within the party, this being his prime objective and Zille would step down a week later.
