Saskia Falken

Broadcaster and Student

Born 1975-6-1 in Cape Town, South Africa

A well-known inspiration to Cape Town women, Saskia Falken has become one of the Western Cape’s most influential women, not only on radio but in business as well. In her teens, she was an avid dancer and this physical form of expression gave her the tools to become a model, which stood her in good stead when she worked as assistant Fashion Editor for Drum and then True Love Magazine. Her success is largely due to her planning a career path and her focussed work ethic. Saskia started her radio career at the SABC and in 2004 she got a slot on P4 as the weekend sports presenter. 6 Months later she was presenting sport on the Breakfast show. She broadened her horizons by working at other stations, but returned to Heart in 2007 as a dj with her own show. She currently hosts the Midmorning show which strongly reflects her interests. To show her versatility and ability to hold her own on the male dominated hip hop and car customisation show, she co-hosted the wildly popular, Mzanzi Ridez on DSTV’s Channel O for 2 seasons, 2007-2008. Aside from her various radio successes, she was also very popular as the first female weather anchor on eNews - which was broadcast out of their Cape Town studios. When it comes to business, she has been nominated as one of the Most Influential Women in Business and Government for 2011. This prestigious event, celebrating the success of women in business is hosted by CEO magazine. She is well-known for her dedication to women’s issues and creating awareness with her radio show, magazine columns and community involvement. As goodwill ambassador for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Wellness SA, she is aware of the importance of health and physical activity in maintaining balance in your life. Saskia is very much in demand as an MC - her client list includes Reebok, Grand West and Spar Women’s Challenge to name a few.
