originally hired into Corporate Human Resources as the Group Head of Organisation Design and Change Management, I worked across the 50 000+ employee global Group on issues such as HR transformation, Talent attraction and retention, mentoring and executive coaching, employee engagement, employer branding, organisational change management, fit-for-purpose business operating models and organisation design, culture change, behavioural safety and strategy implementation.

Working from the Gold Fields corporate office in Sandton, Johannesburg, I provided a Centre of Excellence service to operations in Australia, Peru, South Africa and Ghana and to start-ups and projects in Finland, the Philippines and elsewhere. This gave me dotted-line management control of all the OD, OE and Change Management practitioners globally, as well as responsibility for their professional development. To assist with this I set up both internal and external virtual communities of practice for OE and conducted training workshops with both practitioners and line managers. I also have spoken at multiple conferences in the UK, Australia and South Africa in 2013 on topics such as Organisational Effectiveness, Sustainable HR and Integrated stakeholder management (obtaining a social licence to operate). I also acted as mentor to various fast-trackers and High Potential candidates across the business.

I worked very closely with my VP counterparts in Strategy Execution; Sustainable Development and Innovation and Business Improvement and can also operate in those functions when required. After Gold Fields unbundled much of its South African operation and dramatically reduced its size and footprint in 2013, I accepted a voluntary severance package to return to freelance consulting.
