Shireen Sapiro

South African Paralympic Swimmer


Born 25-01-1991

Shireen Sapiro is a South African Paralympic Swimmer. She fell off of her jet skies and her body was cut open by a passing speed boat. On the 29th of September, 2007 she broke the World Record in the 50m Backstroke. She then broke the 100m backstroke record at the 2008 Summer Paralympics - winning herself the gold medal for the event. At the 2009 Maccabiah Games, she was appointed flag bearer for the South African delegation at the opening ceremony. Sapiro represented South Africa at the 2012 Paralympics.
