Academia, Education and Training
One of the Five Faculties of the University (and one of the biggest in terms of student size), the CLM Faculty has a students' representative council to represent students of that faculty.
Leading a group of 12 democratically elected students who had the responsibily of representing all 6000 students of one of the schools at the University of Witwatersrand. Duties included representing students, planning and executing academic, social and extracurricular activities for Accounting students
Student Parliament has the role of keeping the University's SRC accountable and has the responsibility of approving the SRC's budget and programme of action. As Speaker and Chairperson of the body, I led a group of close to one hundred students from different sectors within the University who played an oversight role for the SRC.
Senate is a statutory body that enjoys the status of being the highest decision-making body of a South African University for matters relating to academics. It is chaired by the VIce-Chancellor of the University.
During this time I also served in various Senate subcommittees
University Council is the highest decision-making body of a South African university.
During this time, I was also a member of the Executive Committee of University Council, Naming Committee, Convocation Executive Committee, and an observer at the University's Finance Committee
Government, Public Administration and Defence
As President, I had the responsibility of leading the SRC. The SRC is recognised by the HIgher Education Act as having the statutory role of representing the 30000 Wits students as well as subordinate student bodies of the University ranging from sports committees, to house committeees and student societies.
