Siphamandla Zondi

Nickname: 'Si'

Pretoria-based foreign policy analyst


Born in Maphumulo South Africa

After undergraduate studies at former University of Durban-Westville, Zondi studied African Studies at Cambridge University, UK and researched regional integration, liberation movements and South Africa at the Africa Institute. Besides these, he researches SA foreign policy in Africa and Africa's collective diplomacy. He is an honorary professor of politics and development studies at UNISA and a member of the Archie Mafeje Institute which is dedicated to Afro-centric scholarship.

The thesis investigated African encounters with western public health systems in order to better understand the impact of African thought patterns on their responses to external influences and with new innovations. It found lots of evidence of ingenuity and creativity on the part of ordinary Africans.
