Timothy Nast

Executive Mayor, Midvaal Local Municipality

Timothy Nast was first elected as a Councillor of the Midvaal Local Municipality in December 2000 at the age of 19. During his first term of office he was a part-time Councillor while he completed his audit articles at a firm of Chartered Accountants in Vereeniging. In March 2006 he was elected as Speaker of the council and served in that position until April 2009 when he was elected as one of the youngest Executive Mayors in the country. Timothy was re-elected to a second term as Executive Mayor following the Local Government Elections in May 2011.

Midvaal Municipality is hailed as the best run local government in the Gauteng Province and has obtained 8 unqualified audit reports. Following an extensive survey conducted by the Gauteng Planning Commission in November 2009, Midvaal was shown to offer the best quality of life in the province.
