William Kentridge

South African Artist


Born 01-01-1955 in Johannesburg

William Kentridge is a South African Artist and is well know for his animated of shape-shifting charcoal drawings. He acted and directed in Johannesburg's Junction Avenue Theatre Company from 1975 to 1991. Kentridge is a founder member of the Free Film makers Co-Operative and he also co-founded Free Film-makers Co-Operative in Johannesburg in 1985. His films were shown at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.
