Testimonials

CEO Mandate Molefi Consultants, Nene Molefi

"I have known Valesca Qhawekazi Erlank for about eight years after meeting at the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute where she was a participant in the class I was lecturing. The first thing that struck me about her was her presence, even without saying anything. Her character comes through both in her speaking and in her silence. The latter is because (in my view ), there is a big difference between ' doing' and ' being'. In her being, she is the epitome of inclusion which is demonstrated by her ability to transcend her own color and race and ' be' with those who are different from her.

Her ' doing' comes across in the way she speaks, she interacts and engages with people especially on the topics of transformation and personal development. When a person recognizes her rank & privilege and use it to educate others and to advance a cause for social justice , I believe they have grasped the complexity of transformation which is what Qhawekazi continues to do. We never reach a point of perfection or mastery in terms of this type of work or in personal development but she is surely on a journey of discovery and willingness to introspect, self correct and grow. She possesses both the qualities of firmness and appreciative enquiry and you see this in the way she is able to see excellence in others and call it by name. It's a pleasure to listen to her speak and see how boldly she tackles the topics she believes in.

"Ms Erlank has been a student with the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute (TMALI), a highly respected Pan -African leadership academy at the University of South Africa (Unisa) for a period of three years. I have known Ms. Erlank for a period of three years, starting from the time when she first enrolled at TMALI for our very first learning programme (SLP) on Introduction to Thought Leadership for Africa’s Advancement. She has since taken more of our SLPs, including one on Good Governance in Africa. In the course of this time I learned a great deal about Ms. Erlank, her intellectual thought and abilities, her passion and deep understanding of challenges facing the African continent and possible solutions.

In the course of this time I learned a great deal about Ms. Erlank, her intellectual thought and abilities, her passion and deep understanding of challenges facing the African continent and possible solutions.

Ms. Erlank believes in ‘African solutions for African problems’ a concept that is advocated by TMALI. At the first TMALI certificate ceremony (graduation) In August 2012 Ms. Erlank was selected as one of two students to give a speech, a task she performed with much flair and eloquence. She gave a well-motivated and inspirational speech, which moved the participants to give her a standing ovation when she implored the graduates to use their newly acquired skills to contribute to the building of a better continent, to assist Africa to claim the 21st century.
Her embrace of the concept of African Renaissance has seen the Thabo Mbeki Foundation inviting her on numerous occasions to address young people alongside academics and activists, undertaking this task with great success each time.

The youth admire her unequivocal believe, like President Mbeki, that Africa will rise from the ashes. Compared to the other students Ms. Erlank clearly stands out. She’s hardworking, compassionate and displays high levels of empathy towards others. While she is assertive and courageous she is also courteous and respectful. I have no doubt that her abilities and determination will continue to grow. I believe she would be a great asset to your programs. I believe that she would do extremely well if given the opportunity to continue to live out her passion and in the process become one of Africa’s most influential future leaders. I give her my highest recommendation.

"Few young people have left a mark as indelible in my life as Valesca Erlank has. I first met Valesca in 2012 when the Thabo Mbeki Foundation brought together a group of young Africans to chart the path for youth development within the context of the African Renaissance agenda. Her contributions to the discussions of that youth retreat influenced the establishment of the African Youth Coalition, which I served as the founding Secretary General. I worked very closely with Valesca, who at the time was running an NGO in George. Her activism and philanthropy work has seen her travel extensively across the continent to represent South African youth. I also had the privilege of working with her in the facilitation of a retreat for high school students - also organized by the Thabo Mbeki Foundation.

Valesca is a committed activist who is passionate about youth development issues. It was because of this that in my capacity as the Editor-in-Chief, I selected her to be a contributing writer to Millennium Magazine, a youth publication funded by the Department of Science and Technology. She has made exceptional contributions to the publication and has undeniably shaped discourse in the country. At a personal level, she is a rare human-being. Her capacity for compassion and empathy is immeasurable. Valesca is an extremely generous person who gives of her time and resources selflessly. With more people like her, Africa can become a better place for humanity.

African National Congress Member of Parliament South Africa, Hon. Cameron Dugmore

"'Valesca Qhawekazi Erlank brings a range of skills and qualities to her work as a consultant. She is well organized, disciplined and has the ability to get things done. She has writing, ICT and communication skills and a very good sense engaging with community and organizational dynamics. Above all she has huge reservoirs of energy and passion and is able to focus on the task at hand." - 2016

Former Vice-President of Kenya Kalonzo Musyoka

"I want to take the opportunity to welcome Valesca, all the way of the Republic of South Africa. She is doing tremendous work and coming to Kenya as inspirational speaker, bringing together the youth of Kenya. Inspirational young leader who cares so much about the less privileged. Valesca will also visit orphanages and her heart is there, working for those who are disadvantaged. I want to thank her. This show how close, South Africa and Kenya have come. This is the way to go. God bless you, Valesca." - 2012
