Chippa United players offered cash for Kaizer Chiefs scalp

Chippa United players will have an added incentive, on top of avoiding relegation, for performing well in their fixture against Kaizer Chiefs at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday.

In what is the penultimate matchday before the end of the ongoing PSL season, the Chilli Boys are only a point away from avoiding automatic relegation, and a victory will guarantee them another season in the top flight.

Cash reward on offer for Chippa United

The come up against a side expected to be low on confidence after two consecutive defeats which made it a total of three losses inside the PSL bio-bubble.

Lehlohonolo Seema’s men have now been tasked with piling more misery on the title hopefuls, with a cash reward placed on the table.

The club revealed on social media that club chairman Siviwe Mpengesi has promised “big incentives”, should the club build on their good form in their past three matches.

“Chippa United chairman Mr Mpengesi, yesterday thanked the players for courageous and brave performances that the team has showed in recent matches in the bio-bubble. He further promised big incentives to the players. If they can manage another heroic performance this evening.”

The club added;

“As things stand a point will guarantee the Eastern Cape outfit another season in the top-flight. Even if Polokwane City or Black Leopards were to win both their remaining matches. It will be mathematically impossible for the Chilli Boys to be dragged into the relegation zone.”

Big motivation to beat Kaizer Chiefs

Chippa rescued a point in their last fixture on Friday against Stellensboch, who had the lead for much of the encounter before Thokozani Sekotlong’s injury-time leveller cancelled out Waseem Isaacs’ first-half strike.

The result, along with the rest of the weekend’s outcomes, meant that the Eastern Cape-based outfit moved to relative safety in 12th place, although they are still not guaranteed another season in the top tier of South African football.

With a maximum of six points up for grabs in the remainder of the season, they need just two to secure their spot in the big time, with a home fixture against Golden Arrows their final match of the campaign.

Chippa are currently five points ahead of 15th placed Black Leopards, who are a point above Limpopo rivals Polokwane City in 16th place.

Other clubs looking to avoid relegation are Baroka and AmaZulu, who both registered crucial wins over the weekend.
