Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping that their transfer ban is overturned soon enough to stake claim on a few players from the now-defunct Bidvest Wits when the window opens on Monday.

The Students will not be part of the upcoming season in the top flight, despite finishing a respectable fifth in the PSL standings in the last campaign.

Bidvest Wits players up for grabs

This is after the franchise, along with the entire squad, was sold to Limpopo businessman Masala Malaudzi, whose Tshakhuma Madzivhandila (TTM) is set for a debut season in the first tier of South African football.

Several Wits players have opted against the move to Limpopo, with the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates reportedly securing some big names from the squad.

After coach Gavin Hunt’s move to Kaizer Chiefs, some of the remaining players could be lured away from TTM by the prospect of reuniting with their former mentor.

Sifiso Hlanti – defender

One player who has long been linked with Kaizer Chiefs is the Bafana defender, who has recently parted ways with TTM.

The latest developments have opened the door for a move to one of the “big three”, with Amakhosi the most likely candidates to land his services.

Cole Alexander – midfielder

After playing a part in Kaizer Chiefs bottling the league title with his crucial late equaliser in one of the first games in the bubble, Alexander could find himself donning the colours of a club he once tormented.

Phathutshedzo Nange – midfielder

With George Maluleka’s departure, the midfield at Kaizer Chiefs was evidently thin, and could do with a bit of strengthening.

It was only inevitable that Amakhosi would be linked with more players from that department, including Pathutshedzo Nange, who impressed in his debut season at Wits.

Thabang Monare – midfielder

Another midfielder linked with a move to Amakhosi is Monare, who is reportedly a long-time target.

The player was – along with Hlanti – given clearance to find a new club, and could finally turn up at Naturena ahead of the new season.

Buhle Mkhwanazi – defender

Bafana defender Buhle Mkhwanazi is another Bidvest Wits star who could be set for a move to Naturena.

Soon after Wits’ sale, links to the club began picking up steam, and fresh reports have emerged following Hunt’s move to Kaizer Chiefs.
