TS Galaxy confirm purchase of Highlands Park PSL status

First division outfit TS Galaxy will compete in the top flight in the coming season after completing the purchase of Highlands Park’s PSL status.

The 2019 Nedbank Cup champions – who finished an underwhelming tenth position in the championship – were previously linked with the purchase of the Bloemfontein Celtic franchise.

TS Galaxy secure PSL spot

They have found a way through to the top tier of South African football through the boardroom, this time dealing with the Thembisa-based club.

Having climbed up to the first division by purchasing the status of Cape Town All Stars, they have sold said status back to the Mother City outfit in the wake of their move to the top flight.

In a statement issued out on Thursday, Galaxy revealed changes to their technical team ahead of their first foray into the big time.

Former Chippa United coach Dan Malesela has returned to the club, and will assume the role of head coach while ex-Bafana striker Mabhuti Khenyeza, who was previously at the helm, moves to the development side.

Malesela occupied the hot seat at the club when they made history by becoming the first lower league side to win the Nedbank Cup, beating Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs in the final. Former Bidvest Wits player Esau Mtsweni will assist him in the dugout.
