MTN8 semi-final draw: Soweto Derby takes center stage

The 2020/2021 PSL campaign got underway this weekend with the MTN8 quarterfinals taking place over Saturday and Sunday.

SuperSport United saw off a late fightback by newcomers Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on Saturday afternoon before Orlando Pirates overcame a 10-men Cape Town City side with a slender 1-0 victory.

Kaizer Chiefs produced a brilliant come-from-behind victory over Maritzburg United on Saturday afternoon at the FNB Stadium while Bloemfontein Celtic pulled off an epic upset by sending Mamelodi Sundowns crashing out at the first hurdle.

The two DStv Premiership Soweto derbies for the upcoming season were only scheduled to take place in 2021 however the MTN8 draw now means the two-legged derby is likely to take place behind closed doors while SuperSport United host Bloemfontein Celtic.
