Samir Nurkovic: Kaizer Chiefs not letting go of top striker

Kaizer Chiefs addressed the rumours linking star striker Samir Nurkovic to Egyptian giants Al Ahly on Tuesday.

The Serb marksman finished as the club’s top goal scorer in his debut season, netting 14 times across competition.

Samir Nurkovic not up for sale

Following former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane’s move to the continent’s “club of the century”, it emerged that the South African mentor was looking towards the player to recruit him to his new club.

However, Chiefs have denied that there has been an approach for the 28-year-old services.

“We can’t let go of our top striker at this stage,” Amakhosi said on their Twitter account.

Chiefs are currently unable to make any additions to their squad, following their transfer ban which they appealed at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The club is currently awaiting the outcome of their appeal before they can proceed with any transfer business.

The club said it is not flexible in the market while awaiting the verdict.

Kaizer Chiefs striker in demand

Nurkovic is said to have attracted interest from a number of clubs besides Al Ahly.

According to KickOff Saudi outfit Abha FC tabled an official bid of $400 000 (approximately R6.63-million) for the player’s services.

The Serb is currently in the second year of his three-year contract at Naturena, following his move from Kormano in the Slovakian second division.

His exploits in the recently-concluded season made him the first Chiefs player to cross the ten-goal mark since Bernard Parker did so in the 2013/14 campaign.
