Champions League preview: Chelsea face potential banana peel

English giants Chelsea are in France for their next Champions League assignment, where they will come up against Stade Rennes at Roazhon Park on Tuesday.

The Blues have been the dominant team in Group E, dropping points just once against fellow group favourites Sevilla.

Form guide and team news

Having hit a purple patch under Frank Lampard, who has guided them to five straight wins across competitions, the Londoners will look to complete a double against the bottom club in the group.

In the reverse fixture, Chelsea cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win, which placed them at the top of the standings, tied on seven points with Sevilla.

They head to France sans a key cog to their machine in Christian Pulisic, who has not travelled with the squad.

The United States international has been out of action for a month, but is expected back to full fitness in time for the Premier League clash against the high-flying Tottenham Hotspur on the weekend.

“Pulisic is staying back, he doesn’t travel,” Lampard revealed ahead of the game. “But he’s had a good progression and will hopefully be fit for selection at the weekend and onwards.”
