Kaizer Chiefs make the long trip to Cameroon at the end of the month where they’ll face defending Cameroonian Champions PWD Bamenda in their preliminary round first leg clash however who are their opponents?

The city of Bamenda is situated in the North West region of Cameroon, 366 kilometers away from the capital city Yaounde. Kaizer Chiefs’ opponents are from a war zone region, yes you read that correctly.

What made Bamenda’s maiden League triumph all the more historic was the fact that they spent the previous 14-years in the country’s lower leagues, successfully lifting the title on their promotion.

With approximately 10 days to go before facing Kaizer Chiefs, the Cameroonian side have been making good use of their preseason and international break by playing friendly matches against the South Sudan national team as well as Sudanese giants Al Ahli Tripoli.

Bamenda came away with a 3 – 0 victory against South Sudan while their 2 – 1 victory over Al Ahli Tripoli will leave Kaizer Chiefs’ head coach Gavin Hunt with some sleepless nights ahead of the clash.

Kaizer Chiefs will be making the dreaded journey to Cameroon over the weekend of 27 to 29 November for the first leg while the return leg is scheduled to take a week later. Should the Amakhosi win, next up lies another difficult opponent in Angolan giants Premiero De Agosto.
