Orlando Pirates vs Baroka: PSL preview and kick-off time

The weekend’s PSL fixtures continue on Saturday, with Orlando Pirates hosting Baroka at Orlando Stadium.

In search of their third straight league win, the Buccaneers are up against a side looking to bounce back after disappointment in their last outing.

Bakgaga suffered defeat to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila last Sunday, their first loss since the new season began.

It was courtesy of a stoppage-time winner from former Buccaneer Justin Shonga.

Baroka coach Thoka Matsimela pinned the result down to lack of concentration, something he hopes his side can improve on against Pirates.

“We have to look at ourselves, are we doing the right thing and make sure in coming games that the same thing doesn’t happen again. Overall performance I am not happy but we will bounce back.”

Pirates, on the other hand, are looking to build after a remarkable come-from-behind victory against Supersport United.

It was their fourth win in a row across competitions, their second in the league, which temporarily propelled them up to the top of the standings.

Head-to-head results

Baroka’s only win against Orlando Pirates came in the 2018 Telkom Knockout final, where they caused an upset to clinch their only top-flight trophy.

In the league, the two sides have met eight times with only two of those matches producing a winner.

The Buccaneers have ended up on the winning side on both occasions, winning 3-1 at home in the 2017/18 season before a 2-1 away victory in their very next encounter.

Since Baroka were promoted to the top flight, they have managed to find the net in each of their fixtures against Orlando Pirates, with no match ending goalles, despite six stalemates between the two sides.

Kick-off time and TV channel

The match between Orlando Pirates and Baroka will be broadcast live on DStv Premier Soccer League channel (202), and kicks off at 15:30 (SAST).
