Brighton plotting Percy Tau emergency return to England

Percy Tau’s dream of playing in the English Premier League may materialize sooner than expected with Brighton and Hove Albion plotting an emergency return for the South African star.

Tau was sent out on loan for the third consecutive season by English Premier League outfit Brighton however their lackluster form, which sees them sit in 16th position after 13 games, has reportedly prompted them to look into an emergency return for Tau with the hope of bolstering their attacking department.

Tau is yet to appear for Brighton since joining them in 2018 due to visa issues however reports from Europe have emerged claiming that changes to brexit rules coupled with Brighton’s highly disappointing start to the season means an emergency return may be on the cards for Percy Tau.

Percy Tau began the season in blistering fashion for Anderlecht scoring four goals in 12 games while also turning out strong performances for Bafana Bafana makes him the perfect remedy to Brighton’s struggles.

“English sources also inform us that there is a real chance that Brighton & Hove Albion will recall Tau in January.” – Belgian publication HLN said.

“The club flirts with relegation in the Premier League and is looking for reinforcements. Due to the new rules, which can be interpreted creatively, it is not impossible that Percy Tau will receive a work permit for England.”

“Yes, as a club we are aware. We have a loan manager, David Weir, who monitors that really, really well.” Brighton boss Graham Potter said when asked regarding Percy Tau’s form as quoted by SussexLive.

“Obviously Dan Ashworth does as well, along with our scouts. I am aware that he has been playing well, he’s been scoring goals and enjoying his football so that is good.”

Percy Tau could become just the 14th South African to feature in the English Premier League. Tokelo Rantie and Steven Pienaar were the latest to fly the South African flag in the star studded league back in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
