Cape Town City slap R44 million price tag on Craig Martin

Cape Town City have slapped a mammoth R44 million price tag on star utility wing-back Craig Martin.

Martin has been in fine form for the Citizens in recent times and has already achieved two assists while scoring a further goal in eight DStv Premiership appearances.

The 27-year-old has reportedly found himself on the radar of Orlando Pirates however, the Buccaneers will have to fork out an incredible amount of money should they wish to land the Cape Town City man.

Orlando Pirates recently secured the services of Wayde Jooste however his inconsistent form has reportedly left them looking at an alternative. Cape Town City boss John Comitis also revealed that his wing-back would only leave for a European based offer making a move to Orlando Pirates all the more tricky.

“My friend, Craig Martin is €2.5 million (R44.5 million), he’s going to Europe.” Cape Town City boss John Comitis told Kick-Off.

“We’re still working on it hey, you know it’s not easy. We always look out for our players. We’ve got to manage the process because it’s not only about doing a deal, it’s also about keeping the performance here in line with our ambitions.

“At this stage I have no plans for that, at this stage my focus is at the end of the season. We need to finish as high as we can, after that we talk business.”

Martin has made 86 appearances for Cape Town City since joining them in 2017. He scored nine goals and assisted a further seven so far for the club.

His pace and skill coupled with his defensive abilities will definitely have Orlando Pirates keeping a close eye on him as they look to build their powerhouse of a squad under Josef Zinnbauer.
