Confirmed: No All Blacks Tests in SA in 2021, but …

The All Blacks won’t be seen in action in South Africa in 2021.

Instead, the Springboks will play both their ‘home’ and ‘away’ matches against the All Blacks in New Zealand during next year’s Rugby Championship.

SPRINGBOKS WILL PLAY AUSTRALIA TWICE IN SA

As part of a tournament format change, the Springboks will play both of their matches against the Wallabies in South Africa.

Those matches are due to be staged in Durban and Johannesburg. The dates for the fixtures are still to be confirmed.

The world champion Springboks will still play home and away Tests against Argentina.

At this stage there’s been no confirmation where the home match against the Pumas will be held.

This was confirmed by SA Rugby at its general council meeting on Friday, according to Sunday’s Rapport newspaper.

SPRINGBOKS AIMING FOR 2 MATCHES IN BLOEMFONTEIN

Meanwhile, the Springboks are still aiming to play two matches in Bloemfontein in preparation for their British & Irish Lions series.

Their opponents are yet to be confirmed, with a ‘Barbarians’ match and one against a weakened Argentina side the most likely options at this stage.

The first Test against the British & Irish Lions will take place on July 24, 2021 with the final clash scheduled for August 7.

The Rugby Championship will kick off thereafter.
