According to the government gazette signed by Cogta minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma on Monday, the closing time for venues hosting professional sport is strictly 20:00.

A NUMBER OF DSTV PREMIERSHIP MATCHES WILL BE IMPACTED

That will have an impact on a number of sports, most notably the DStv Premiership and Currie Cup matches scheduled for the next fortnight.

The DStv Premiership resumes on Saturday, January 2 and on the list of fixtures is a match between Maritzburg United and Bloemfontein Celtic currently scheduled for 19:00.

That will now have to change.

As will a full round of domestic league matches scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, January 5-6, all set to kick off at 19:00.

The same applies for matches over the weekend of January 8-10.

CURRIE CUP MATCHES WILL REQUIRE CHANGES

Meanwhile, three Currie Cup clashes – two involving Western Province – will require kick-off time changes.

On Saturday, January 2, WP are due to play the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein at 19:00, while the following Saturday they are at their Newlands home for a mouth-watering clash against the Sharks – again currently scheduled for 19:00.

In between those matches, the Bulls are due to host the Lions in a delayed match on Wednesday, January 6, also at 19:00.
