The final field for the R1 million Grade 1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate on Saturday, January 9 has been confirmed.
The race will see Cape trainer Justin Snaith send four of the eight runners to the start, including recent Durban July winner Belgarion and 2019 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner, Do It Again.
160TH RUNNING OF THE QUEEN’S PLATE
Saturday’s race will be the 160th running of the Queen’s Plate over 1 600m.
The race will not be open to spectators other than owners and trainers.
The 2020 winner, Vardy, will not be racing.

Meanwhile, with the final fields declared for the 2020 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate Festival on Friday and Saturday, five out-of-province jockeys, including two reigning champions, have committed to ride in the Cape for the month of January.
Keagan de Melo, Luke Ferraris, Warren Kennedy, Gavin Lerena and Anton Marcus have accepted rides for this weekend and thus commit themselves to the Cape for the entire month under the latest Covid-19 lockdown Level 3 rules.
