Cape Town City have announced the signing of Zambia striker Justin Shonga from DStv Premiership rivals Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
Justin Shonga, still only 24-years-old, is widely regarded as one of the most talented players not only in South Africa, but in Africa, and has attracted the interest of Egyptians giants Al Ahly and Zamalek in recent years.
SHONGA’S STAY IN VENDA WAS SHORT-LIVED
Shonga scored 16 goals and registered as many assists in 77 matches for Orlando Pirates in all competitions before joining TTM at the end of the 2019/20 season.
He has also scored 13 goals in just 24 appearances for his native Zambia.
However, his stay in Venda has been short-lived – around 4 months to be exact.
City have signed Shonga for not only the remainder of the current season, but until June 2024 as they look to shore up their attack that lost Kermit Erasmus to Mamelodi Sundowns in the off-season.
The Citizens confirmed the signing on social media on Tuesday.
“Cape Town City has reached a transfer agreement with TTM for the acquisition of Justin Shonga. The Zambian international centre-forward signs a deal until June 2024,” a club statement read.
