Goosen has been a target of the Bulls for some time now and according to Sunday’s Rapport newspaper, has elected to give up the chance of representing the Cheetahs once again in favour of the Bulls.

JOHAN GOOSEN HAS REPORTEDLY SIGNED A 3-YEAR CONTRACT

Goosen, 28, who is currently playing his rugby at Montpellier in France, has reportedly signed a three-year deal with the Loftus Versfeld union.

Goosen will be a logical long-term replacement for veteran Morne Steyn’s whose contract expires at the end of the season.

However, Chris Smith has filled in admirably for Steyn this season and will certainly push Goosen for the starting No 10 jersey in particular.

Goosen joins Marcell Coetzee and Francois Hougaard as big-name signings by the Bulls in recent weeks as they step up preparations for the upcoming Rainbow Cup from April to June and the expanded PRO16 later in the year.

Johan Goosen, who attended Grey College in Bloemfontein, represented the Cheetahs from 2011-2014, before joining French club Racing 92.

GOOSEN HAS 13 SPRINGBOK CAPS

After ‘retiring’ from rugby in 2016 in order to get out of his contract with Racing 92, he returned to South Africa briefly where he played three matches for the Cheetahs in 2018 before joining Montpellier.

Goosen earned 13 Test caps for the Springboks between 2012-2016.
