REPORT: LIVERPOOL, ARSENAL AND PEP GUARDIOLA EYE SUMMER SWOOP FOR SAMUEL ETO’O 2.0

According to a report from Salzburger Nachrichten, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool are interested and already eyeing a summer swoop for RB Salzburg’s Patson Daka.

The Zambian forward could just be the next big player to emerge from RB Salzburg following Erling Braut Haland.

Daka has found the net 27 times in just 31 games this season, including eight assists for the Austrian giants.

His recent form has now led to interest from Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola, and Jürgen Klopp who will all be battling it out for the 22-year-old this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Zambia coach Milutin Sredejovic believes Daka can emulate what Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o achieved in football.

Sredejovic said: “I would say he’s on the road to replacing what Eto’o once was in representing Africa and African football.

“He could be compared to Sadio Mane or Eto’o, with the level of skill and speed that he has, with the sense for space, sense of positioning, in the right place at the right time.”

Daka is an exciting player on and off the pitch and to see him attracting interest from the big clubs shouldn’t be a surprise; Everybody wants the next Håland in their ranks.

Liverpool may have an advantage in closing the deal with their relationship with the club. Liverpool signed Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg last year, although the player is yet to take his place in the first team and is currently on loan to Southampton.

Takumi Minamino has only managed to score three goals in his 25 Premier League games since arriving on these shores.

The lack of a regular first-team shirt for Minamino might just be a red flag sign to Daka because a player of his quality needs to break into the first team the moment he arrives at the club.

So, Guardiola, Arteta, and Klopp need to make sure he’s the real deal, and not just a player who can only excel in a division of lesser quality to the Premier League.
