Stellenbosch have announced the signing of right-back, Zitha Macheke from Bidvest Wits.
The former Kaizer Chiefs defender is the latest player from the Clever Boys to find a new home, following the club’s recent sale.
Zitha Macheke joins Stellenbosch
Having been a regular for Wits in the recently-concluded season, the 26-year-old has moved from Johannesburg to the Cape, linking up with Steve Barker – the head coach at his new club.
“#SFC is pleased to announce its latest acquisition in the successful signing of Zitha Macheke from Bidvest Wits,” Stellenbosch announced on Twitter.

Wits players opt out of joining TTM
The deal means that Macheke will not be part of Limpopo-based outfit Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila’s (TTM) debut season in the PSL top flight.
This is after the club’s owner purchased the Bidvest Wits franchise along with their entire squad.
Having lost out on the services of Gavin Hunt, who has recently joined Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs, two other players were released earlier in the week.
Bafana defender Sifiso Hlanti and midfielder Thabang Monare were granted clearance to leave the club shortly before the start of the new season.
“The club would like to take this opportunity to thank both players for their outstanding contribution and wishing them good luck in their future careers,” TTM said in a statement.

TTM are one of two clubs that will compete in the top flight after securing their spot via the boardroom, along with TS Galaxy, who confirmed the purchase of Highlands Park’s PSL status.
