Patrick Reed stormed into the lead of the 120th US Open Golf Championship overnight with a four-under 66 in the second round on Friday 18 September.

Big-driving Bryson DeChambeau is second one-shot back after carding a two-under 68. First-round leader Justin Thomas holds a share of third.

SA hopes

Despite recording a four-over 74 on Friday Louis Oosthuizen leads the South African charge five shots off the lead.

Erik van Rooyen is four-over for the tournament and eight shots off the leader Reed while Christiaan Bezuidenhout was the third and final South African to make the cut.
