SuperSport United hosted their 2019/20 awards evening on Thursday night with Bradley Grobler, Teboho Mokoena and Sipho Mbule all walking away with top honours.
SuperSport United enjoyed a successful 2019/20 campaign under the tutelage of Kaitano Tembo. Matsatsantsa bagged the first cup of the season in the form of the MTN8 trophy while a late slip in the league resulted in them falling out of the top three however their fifth placed finish won’t be a cause for concern.
Matsatsantsa will be most impressed with the fact that Kaitano Tembo was able to put up a competitive showing while successfully integrating a number of youngsters into his side.
Grobler bags top gong at SuperSport United awards
Bradley Grobler was rewarded for his stellar season at SuperSport United in which he found the back of the net on 16 occasions while providing four further assists.
The Bafana Bafana striker walked away with the Chairman’s award, Player of the Season award as well as the Top Goal Scorer award while Sipho Mbule earned the Player’s Player of the Season award.

Grobler time now or never
Grobler, 32-years-old has attracted interest from South Africa’s big three in the past and after enjoying his most successful campaign to date, will undoubtedly once again be hot property.
Grobler confirmed that talks with Orlando Pirates at the end of the 2018/19 campaign took place however a move failed to materialize due to SuperSport United’s reluctance to let their star attacker go.
“Yeah like I said, there were talks (with Orlando Pirates) going on before the season, there were talks, and SuperSport decided that they wanted to keep me and wouldn’t allow me to go” – Grobler told Kick-Off.
“At the same I think in football anything can happen, I don’t think it’s right to rule anything out completely. It’s not like anything is lined up or there’s talks at the moment, it’s just that in football things do happen.
“But ja, as I said I’m very happy at SuperSport and if I end my career playing there I wouldn’t be unhappy at all.”
Grobler played more minutes in the 2019/20 campaign than he did in his previous five campaigns collectively which indicates that his body may very well be in prime condition. Age however suggests that he has just a few more seasons left in him and should Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns or Kaizer Chiefs have ambitions to land the lethal striker, the time is now.
