Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit AmaZulu have unveiled ten new signings, with former Bafana midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala among the new arrivals.

The KwaZulu-Natal outfit recently changed ownership, with business mogul Sandile Zungu replacing long-time chairman Patrick Sokhela.

AmaZulu signing spree

Having only just survived last season, Usuthu signalled their intent ahead of the upcoming campaign with a host of signings, which include the former Kaizer Chiefs star, who had been a free agent since his departure from Turkish outfit, Erzurumspor in July 2019.

Now 36, Tshabalala brings close to 300 matches worth of PSL experience to the club.

Other players unveiled by AmaZulu include former Orlando Pirates trio, Luvuyo Memela, Thembela Sikhakhane and Augustine Mulenga, with the latter popping up in Durban just days after being unveiled by top-flight newcomers Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

The Zambian international was, along with Sikhakhane, released by the Buccaneers earlier in the month, while Memela departed the club after protracted contract negotiations.

Injection of experience

They are joined at their new club by another ex-Buc in Siphelele Mthembu, who was last seen in the colours of Cape Town City, as well as Malawian international Limbikani Mzava, formerly of Highlands Park.

Making a move from rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows is young defender Samkelo Mgwazela, while Sicelo Mkhize joins from Jomo Cosmos, with hardman Makhehleni Makhaula also among the list of new signings.

AmaZulu begin the new season at home to Orlando Pirates on Saturday, with the match kicking off at 20:15 (SAST).
