Pull a bottle off the top shelf, because AB de Villiers has served a vintage performance in the IPL on Monday. Turning out for Royal Challengers Bangalore against the Kolkata Knight Riders, the South African legend bludgeoned his team into a match-winning position, smashing 73 runs off just 33 balls.
Six appeal: Our lad has still got it
The insane innings was punctuated by 11 boundaries in total, including six sixes. However, there was one particular maximum that has caught the attention of cricket fans worldwide – and an unfortunate driver in Sharjah.
Proving that he’s still got those almighty levers, AB de Villiers smashed twin sixes out of the stadium in consecutive balls. His second effort landed on the highway outside of the ground, bouncing off a moving car in the process. We’ve seen a lot in our time watching the IPL, but this has got to be a first!
