Despite CSA turmoil, England tour of SA will go ahead

Despite the current turmoil in South African cricket, the upcoming England tour of the country will go ahead.

England are due to touch down in Cape Town on Tuesday for a three-T20 and three ODI tour, starting on November 27.

ENGLAND WILL QUARANTINE FOR 10 DAYS

Prior to that, England will quarantine for 10 days at the Vineyard Hotel in the Mother City.

The Proteas and England will play the six matches over a 13-day period at Newlands and Boland Park in Paarl.

There had been genuine concerns that the tour would be scrapped as the administrative crisis at Cricket South Africa took a turn for the worse late last week.

However, South Africa’s Sports Ministry has given the nod for the tour to go ahead for the sake of the players and the cricket-loving public.

CSA’s Members’ Council refused to hand over power to an interim board that was set up by Minister of Sports Nathi Mthethwa with the aim of resolving a lengthy list of problems at the organisation.

While Mthethwa has the power to strip the Proteas of their national colours and withdraw funding, there’s also the added concern that the sport’s world governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), could intervene should there be any government interference.

However, despite the ongoing saga in the background, the tour will go ahead.

England tour to South Africa itinerary:

Friday, November 27, 1st T20, Newlands – 18:00

Sunday, November 29, 2nd T20, Boland Park – 14:30
